How it works
- 1 · You buy the programme — It is paid in full: the consultation, the topical treatment you are prescribed and the follow-up.
- 2 · The consultation opens — As soon as the payment clears. It is the only thing that opens on day one, and that is deliberate.
- 3 · The dermatologist assesses you and prescribes — They decide what is right for you and write it on your prescription. They may conclude your case calls for something else, and they tell you so right there.
- 4 · The topical treatment opens — Against that prescription, and not before. The partner pharmacy dispenses it once the document exists.
What is included
- The consultation with the partner dermatologist, who assesses your acne and decides which treatment is right for you.
- The topical retinoid treatment they prescribe for you, dispensed against that prescription.
- The follow-up with the same dermatologist within three months, to see how it is going and adjust whatever is needed.
What is NOT included
- Medicines taken by mouth: isotretinoin, oral antibiotics and the contraceptives sometimes used in acne. If the dermatologist finds they are needed, they prescribe them and they are handled separately.
- In-office procedures other than the consultation: chemical exfoliation, comedone extraction and laser.
- Treating the scars acne leaves behind. That is a different thing and a different price.
- Getting yourself to the office.
About isotretinoin
Oral isotretinoin is not part of this programme, and the reason is not price. It is teratogenic — it causes serious birth defects if there is a pregnancy — and handling it calls for strict medical supervision and follow-up throughout. That is not something to package and charge up front: if the dermatologist judges it necessary, they prescribe it and manage it separately, with its own checks.
Which retinoid, at what strength and how it is applied is decided by the dermatologist at the consultation and written on your prescription. Medline neither chooses nor prescribes it: the partner pharmacy dispenses it against that document.
Before the appointment
None of this rules you out: these are things that change what the dermatologist decides, which is why it is on you to say them. Medline does not assess — that belongs to the consultation — it only tells you what to walk in knowing.
- If you are pregnant, think you might be, or are breastfeeding. It changes what can be prescribed, so say it up front.
- What you have already put on or taken for acne, when, and how it went.
- Any medication you are taking, including the ones that need no prescription.
- What you put on your face today: creams, exfoliants, make-up, anything another doctor has given you.
